The 18th Macao City Fringe Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will be held in January next year, showing once again a creative and innovative spirit and encouraging diversified productions. The call for proposals of programmes and performance venues is now open. Local cultural associations, artists and producers are invited to submit proposals by 5pm on 23 July 2018.
The Fringe brings all kinds of artistic and creative works to the city, breaking the barriers of the traditional performance venues. Adopting the concept “All around the city, our stages, our patrons, our artists”, the Fringe not only encourages the participation of artists and producers but also invites the general public to participate in it as venue provider.
In the last two editions, the majority of the programmes was selected through an open call for proposals, which had a remarkable response from art groups and producers, thereby bringing even more diversity into this exhibition platform of non-conventional arts and achieving extremely encouraging results. In order to create even more opportunities for exchange between local groups and foreign artists, the Fringe will invite industry professionals, event planners and producers from other regions to come to the city and enjoy the Fringe performances, in particular local productions, thereby offering an exchange platform.
The call for proposals of programmes and performance venues is now open. Macao artists and cultural associations registered at the Identification Services Bureau are welcome to submit their applications. The programmes can be local or site-specific art project, overseas works or cross-regional collaborations produced in any art form. In order to encourage local groups to actively engage in productions and continue to offer performance opportunities, the local or cross-regional production of the 18th Macao City Fringe Festival which shows greater potential will have a chance to be presented at the 31st Macao Arts Festival.
The regulations and application form for proposals of programmes and performance venues registration form can be downloaded at IC’s website at www.icm.gov.mo.
